2010/2011 Season

October 28 – November 7, 2010

In this critically-acclaimed musical, a tuneful menagerie of misfit angst-ridden overachievers, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, compete in the Spelling Bee and learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.

With audience volunteers recruited to participate as guest spellers, every show is guaranteed to be as unique as the one before it.

Songwriter Don Baker, blind since birth, wants his own apartment, free from his over-protective mother. He befriends hippie actress Jill, who wants to live a life free of commitment and responsibility. Don’s mother wants to bring her son home. Don's dreams of independence, his mother’s hopes for his future, and Jill's view of love and relationships all collide in one day, as all three are forced to face their own fears. This touching 1969 comedy combines humour and heart, and was one of the longest-running plays in Broadway history.  In the early 70’s, it was adapted into a popular movie, with Goldie Hawn in her first starring role.

An uplifting romantic comedy about three Jewish “Golden Girls”  who are all learning to deal with widowhood in their own way. The strength of their friendship is put to the test when a kindly, attractive widower makes an unexpected appearance in their lives...

The Cemetery Club is a poignant and playful tribute to the art of living and laughing, and facing the challenges of growing older.

The flashy one. The sweet one. The proper one.
Three women looking for a live one.
